Diwali Gala Shines a Light on Health Care

Diwali Photos

On October 21, 2022, guests enjoyed a night of superb food, dazzling entertainment and non-stop dancing at the 21st Trillium Diwali Gala.

In late October, Trillium Health Partners Foundation hosted their 21st annual celebration of the festival of lights. Thanks to the generosity of our guests and the communal goal of building Canada’s largest hospital, the event was a large success – fundraising $785,000.

$785,000 raised for The Trillium Health Partners Hospital

Hosted by emcee Colin D’Mello, the sold-out crowd was treated to a spectacular night of food, entertainment, and music. The 2022 line-up included a full fashion show from legendary designer Dinesh K Ramsay, a routine by Canada’s Got Talent fan favourite: Shadow Entertainment, and Tesher performing his mega-hit, Jalebi Baby. The night capped off with hours of dancing backed by Canada’s most celebrated DJ, Baba Kahn.

You Make Trillium Better, Faster, and Stronger.

Did you know that support for new equipment in our hospital is not funded by the government? That’s why your support is so important. Last year, you made it possible to purchase a much-needed new 3T MRI machine. In 2022, 675,037 diagnostic services were carried out at Trillium, our new equipment will reduce wait times and perform speciality procedures with double the power of our existing scanners. MRI machines of this type cost as much as $2.9 million dollars, and we at Trillium Health Partners are humbled by your support and promise to provide superb care with this exceptional equipment.

The 3T MRI upgrade: By the Numbers

  • 100% more power 15,000 more units of magnetic strength
Providing higher-quality images for more accurate diagnosis
  • 3 dimensions of visibility 55 x 55 x 50cm3 of Field-of-View
Larger areas of assessment per treatment
  • 50% faster 15-minute screening exams versus 30
    Shorter wait times for patients

THE 3T MRI

offers a non-invasive and highly accurate technique for the early detection of prostate cancer.

Closer to the Heart

Better Heart Scans through Superior Technology

The quality of modern health care relies on accessing the latest technology. Thanks to you, we are able to fund more innovative equipment at Trillium Health Partners. That includes two new Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) devices for patients in the cardiac catheterization lab and the cardiac surgery ICU. When an extremely high-quality scan of the heart is needed, the internal probe is threaded down the patient’s oesophagus and sound waves generate high-resolution images that are more detailed than external imaging methods due to ribcage obstruction. TEEs are invaluable for heart surgery and cath lab procedures.

In most patients, TEE devices provide imaging with superior quality and less obstruction.

HyperArc: an innovative cancer treatment technology that improves health outcomes, reduces wait times, and increases accessibility to treatment.

Trillium Health Partners has been able to introduce HyperArc, an innovative technology that treats cancer patients with multiple brain metastases in a single visit. Because you chose to give, the technology is now proudly housed at the Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre, making it the first hospital in Central Canada to possess the improved linear accelerator (LINAC).

The advancement of this technology improves the oncology patient experience, requiring fewer hospital visits with reduced wait times.

Leading the way with HyperArc

Brain metastases are tumours that develop when cancer spreads to the brain. Before HyperArc, patients could only be treated for a single metastasis at a time, meaning multiple hospital visits were unavoidable.

But with this precise radiosurgical treatment, multiple brain metastases can be treated in a single visit, dropping the average treatment time per metastasis from 40 to 4 minutes.

Every day, our radiation program operates for longer hours and treats more patients per LINAC than any other radiation program in Ontario. Your generosity has granted us efficiencies that have increased each oncology patient’s accessibility to the treatment they need.

Your impact makes brain cancer treatment easier for our patients.

Holiday ornamentsYour Impact Spreads Holiday Cheer

This holiday season, the kindness of our community was proudly on display for all employees, patients and students at our hospital. When our generous donors sent their seasonal gifts, they took some extra time to write warm, uplifting messages on handcrafted ornaments to spread some bonus holiday cheer. Your decorations hung in abundance from star to stump and your heart-warming words uplifted the spirits of many. Thank you so much to everyone who participated!

A Better Tomorrow Starts With Your Legacy

We all want to leave the world a better place, which is what makes a legacy gift so meaningful. As a hospital, we know that good health is the foundation for happiness and success, inspiring Trillium Health Partners to advance a new kind of health care for our region and beyond. That includes ongoing investments in new hospital infrastructure, state-of-the-art equipment and bold new research to foster health for the entire community, all accelerated by philanthropy.

There are any number of different and easy ways to make a legacy gift that will suit any set of circumstances and reduce estate taxes. That could include:

  • A gift through a Will
  • A gift of life insurance or registered funds
  • A gift of stocks that avoids tax on any capital gains

Leaving a legacy to benefit Trillium Health Partners is a bold investment in a better, healthier tomorrow.
