Trillium Health Partners: 10 Years Strong

This year marks a milestone for Trillium Health Partners: 10 years of service toward bettering the health of our amazing community.

As we celebrate, we have to acknowledge the consistent loyalty and generosity of all of our incredible donors as well as the hard work, dedication, and ceaseless performance of the entire Trillium Health Partners staff who give so much for the well-being of our patients and their loved ones.

Better Together

On December 1, 2011, Trillium Health Centre and Credit Valley Hospital were officially amalgamated to bring the best possible patient care services to the communities of Mississauga and West Toronto. A singular vision drove the decision to combine the hospitals: to be Better Together. Through amalgamation, our hospital aimed to provide exceptional quality of care for the community while building a better tomorrow.

The newly formed Trillium Health Partners recognized the need for innovation and change within one of the fastest-growing communities in Canada. For the past ten years, the hospital has strived to respond to the rapidly changing health needs of our patients, and Trillium Health Partners is prepared to meet the future head-on. We are committed to adapting to our community’s growth to provide the exemplary health care that we’re known for in the coming years.

What’s Next

We are pleased to announce the start of the next exciting phase in our journey — the new and expanded Mississauga hospital and the expansion of Queensway Health Centre to accommodate the incredible growth of this community, which expects to see an increase of about 1 million residents by 2041.

Supporting Women’s Health

In the face of many pandemic-related challenges, the Michèle S. Darling Women’s Imaging and Assessment Centre has been exemplary in its ability to adapt in order to provide care to patients in need. In response to the challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic, the Centre pivoted to offer virtual care where applicable, to ensure that day-to-day operations were not disrupted and treatment was provided.

In the past year the Michèle S. Darling Women’s Imaging and Assessment Centre continued its excellent service to our community. The Centre has seen:

Ana Yedra: Spotlight on a Health Care Champion

Ana Yedra, Registered Practical Nurse, Trillium Health Partners

Ana, a Registered Practical Nurse here at Trillium Health Partners, loves the patient interaction that comes from her job. Seeing her patients’ health improve brings joy to Ana that drives her even when her job presents challenges.

“I love watching my patients get better, it’s a happy ending for me,” says Ana.

An internationally educated nurse, Ana began her career in the Philippines. After relocating to Canada, she worked as a Personal Support Worker. During this time, she earned her Canadian nursing license and began work with THP as a part of the Clinical Research Team in 2018.

Ana’s thankful for the donor support that allows the staff at Trillium Health Partners to continue to provide great patient care. She felt so proud when she recently received an Honour a Health Care Champion card that expresses gratitude for her service from donors. Her card gave her a morale boost during a challenging time. It showed her that her efforts are appreciated.

To the donors, Ana would like to give a heartfelt thank you. Your gifts mean everything. Without them, Ana may not have the equipment, confidence, and team support that she needs to go above and beyond at her job.

Gyno-Mite: a Fundraising Success Story

Gyno-Mite is a story of friends taking the initiative to do more for their community. When Trillium Health Partners (THP) Gynecologic OR nurse, Anna Czipf, lost her mother in 2001, she was motivated to join a fundraising team with members of the Gynecologic Oncology Program she worked closely with.

The desire to consistently strive for improved patient care was the driving force behind Gyno-Mite’s formation. The team took part in a marathon fundraising event to raise critical funds for Trillium Health Partners with the ultimate goal to purchase state-of-the-art equipment to improve outcomes for cancer patients undergoing surgery.

A Team of Friends and Colleagues

The Gyno-Mite fundraising team is a collaborative collective of physicians, nurses, trainees, researchers, and administrative staff at Trillium Health Partners who are dedicated to improving the experience and quality of care for the patients of the Gynecologic Oncology Program at Trillium Health Partners.

Some quick facts that illustrate the need for incredible teams like Gyno-Mite:

  • The Gynecologic Oncology Program provides rapid cancer diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and psychosocial oncology and supportive care to thousands of individuals each year.
  • Last year 12,494 of the overall patients treated at the Trillium Health Partners cancer care centre were women.
  • The Gynecologic Oncology Program treated 1,109 patients.
  • Through their most recent fundraising effort Team Gyno-Mite was able to raise an astounding $10,418 through emails, word-of-mouth, and from the support of family and friends.
  • Individuals who have gynecologic cancers in the community rely on the expertise and compassion of hospital staff coupled with state-of-the-art equipment during some of the most distressing health care challenges of their lives.
  • Proactive fundraising ensures patients continue to have access to leading-edge technologies and services, close to home.

The dedication and generosity of donors like Gyno-Mite make it possible for the Gynecologic Oncology program at Trillium Health Partners to continue to make advancements that serve our patients. Thank you!

We couldn’t have done it without you.

It was another year of uncertainty but thanks to you, Trillium Health Partners was able to meet our challenges head-on.

Your generosity helped us respond quickly and effectively to the health care obstacles that COVID-19 continued to hurl our way.

Thanks to you, we were able to increase patient capacity across our three sites, purchase vital pieces of equipment and supplies like ventilators and laboratory equipment for in-house testing, and maintain supplies of PPE to protect staff and patients. New innovations were implemented, such as the transition to virtual care, allowing community members to receive care in the comfort of their own homes.

On July 27th, 2021 we were able to close our University of Toronto Mississauga COVID-19 vaccination clinic location and transition all efforts over to THP’s Mississauga Hospital vaccine clinic.

We are proud to say that we were able to surmount staggering challenges to meet the health care demands that COVID-19 placed on our community. Our pandemic response highlights include:
