Trillium Health Partners Foundation (THP) hosted the first-ever Hazel McCallion Walk for Health event on June 5, 2022, to raise funds for the hospital and show appreciation for our health care workers and everything they do.

$510,000 Raised to Help Meet Future Health Care Needs

Thanks to the strong support of the community, the event surpassed our goal and raised $510,000, which will help build the future home of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital, the largest and most advanced hospital in Canada. It’s all part of a greater plan to build a new kind of health care for a growing and diverse community.

A huge thank you to Hazel McCallion, the nearly 100 staff teams, 2,000 participants, volunteers, sponsors, vendors and our community at large. You helped us exceed expectations and set the bar high for next year!

The da Vinci Xi surgical robot allows surgeons to seamlessly perform complex and sometimes very long surgeries.

Thanks to the support of of our donors, THP has been able to introduce the use of robotic instruments for prostate cancer surgeries, providing state-of-the-art technology to assist surgical teams.

Surgical robots have the unique capability of allowing surgeons to seamlessly perform complex and sometimes very long surgeries. And they provide patients with a minimally invasive alternative, who would otherwise need to have open abdominal surgery. This helps them recover and leave the hospital sooner.

Da Vinci Joins our Surgical Team

Donor support enabled Trillium Health Partners to become the first hospital in Ontario to acquire the latest da Vinci Xi surgical robot, an instrument with the rotational mobility of human hands, enhancing range of motion and dexterity. Advanced and magnified 3D imaging allows surgeons to see the surgical field more clearly, improving precision and accuracy.

On average, we perform about 10 robotic surgeries per month, with plans to almost double that number. And we intend to expand robotic-assisted surgeries to include renal and thoracic surgery in the near future, bringing even more leading-edge care to our community.
